Barter Market is a concept design for a community bartering system that would facilitate community building, collaborative consumption, and people empowerment. Barter Market was one of the eleven winning concepts for the OpenIDEO Challenge to restore vibrancy in cities facing economic decline.
UNITe is the concept for an online and mobile phone networking platform that enables vulnerable immigrant workers in New York City to report and map violations of worker’s rights, obtain job information, gain access to social services, and create a social and professional network amongst themselves for better protection and mobilization.

These are three reports I wrote or contributed to during my tenure at the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund. The reports discuss the impact of No Child Left Behind on English language learners, the Asian American vote during the 2006 midterm elections, and school restructuring in New York City’s public schools.
